Port Schedule Management System
The intention of this project is to design and develop a web based enterprise solution in order to automate several vessel scheduling tasks, currently being carried out manually. This system will be able to appoint schedules to incoming ships, and track schedule time and dates in order to efficiently track all events within Jebel Ali Port. Vessel information, position, orientation and all other related aspects will be fully managed by the web application. The web application will be user friendly and use GUI heavily in order to depict the port and schedule situation clearly to the users.
Assumptions
· User will enter information manually or with help of GUI components
· User will update system manually
· System will support up to 50-100 users
· Only one schedule operator can be logged on at a time
· Previous schedules meaning schedules from previous weeks will only be read-only not editable

Value
· Password & Encryption Protected
· Viewable anywhere with internet access
· Operates anywhere within Jebel Ali Port
· Easier to schedule vessels and related components using one system that takes into account all aspects of the vessel and port management rather using many unrelated systems in order to desired outcome.
· Can later to integrated with mobile technology to even offer more value and flexibility of use.
· Real time alerts via e-mail & possibly SMS

Wireless Application and Mobile Database
The aim of this research is to design, and develop a mobile device application suite with relational database capability for storage. This software will utilize wireless technology in order to interact with local devices in range, and also an offsite server. The software can be applied in such fields as health care, marketing, and other industries. The objective is to develop a wireless application that is suitable to use in many environments with a distributed database capability. Thedatabase and wireless application will utilize such technologies as distributed databases for storage, GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication)/GPRS for long distance communication, and Bluetooth or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) for local communication. Finally, the Bluetooth device is discovered in the network of nearby devices its location and information will be registered in the mobile database in order to send customized messages.

Spring 2008 Senior capstone Project (Project Null):
Project Null is a Team of AUD students working on the health informatics database. Our goal is to merge the different parts of the database into one normalized database. we will also supply and ER diagram to illustrate the database normailization. a web application will be created to view and edit the databases. This system will be developed using Oracle 10g, Jdeveloper, JSF technologies.
